Born in Cleveland, OH and raised in Tucson, AZ, has
been in Texas since 1977 after being assigned to Ft. Bliss, El Paso,
TX, while serving in the US Army. During the completion of a Master
of Arts in Speech Communication, she became a Graduate Teaching Assistant,
then an adjunct instructor for West Texas A & M University in Canyon,
Texas. Catherine is currently an adjunct at TCC-NE and TCC-South Campus
since August 2006 and formerly an instructor for a local proprietary
school for the last eight years. The author of two papers that were
presented at conventions for the Texas Speech Communication Association,
the first, College Retention: How to keep college freshmen in school,
was presented in 1996, the second, (Master’s Thesis) was Communication
apprehension reduction: A comparison of experienced and beginning instructors
of the basic public speaking course, presented in 1997. Catherine is
currently ABD for a PhD in Education. Specializations include: Adult
Learning Theories, Communication Apprehension Reduction, Instructor
Effectiveness, and Humor in the Classroom.
